michelle.net.au was created to make everyday health information easier to understand and use. It shares practical, carefully researched guidance to help readers make informed choices about nutrition, movement, wellbeing and healthy living.
What this site is
michelle.net.au publishes plain-English articles about collagen, supplements, everyday nutrition and ageing well. The aim is narrow and deliberate: explain what the research actually found, in language that does not require a science degree, and be honest about the places where the evidence is thin, contested or simply absent.
Most health writing online sits at one of two extremes — a press release dressed as journalism, or a study abstract nobody outside the field can read. There is room in between.
How the articles are written
Every factual claim on this site comes from a primary source. In practice that means the National Institutes of Health and its Office of Dietary Supplements, the National Institute on Aging, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Harvard Health Publishing, national dietary guidelines, regulators, and peer-reviewed journals and systematic reviews.
Three working rules follow from that:
- Every figure is dated in the text. If a number comes from a 2015 meta-analysis, the article says 2015, so you can judge how current it is.
- Study design is described, not hidden. Sample size, duration and funding source matter enormously in supplement research, and they are stated where they are known.
- Weak evidence is labelled weak. Where a claim rests on small, short or industry-funded trials, the article says so rather than rounding it up into a recommendation.
What this site is not
It is not medical advice, and nothing here diagnoses, treats, cures or prevents any condition. Articles describe published research and public health guidelines; they do not tell you what to take. Decisions about your own health belong with you and a qualified healthcare professional who knows your history.
This site also sells nothing. There is no shop, no own-brand product and no consultation service.
Who publishes it
michelle.net.au is an independent publication, written and run by one person in Australia. The readership is worldwide, and where guidelines differ between countries the articles say so rather than assuming one jurisdiction.
How it is funded
This site is supported by advertising. Where an article links to a product through an affiliate programme, that link is disclosed at the point of use and explained in full on the Affiliate Disclosure page. A commercial relationship never determines what an article concludes.
